Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO NITRO ARCHIVE Phantom Wiki
Inferno, the Phantom title, and the 2026 Steam archive of Urobuchi Gen's debut.
Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO NITRO ARCHIVE is NITRO ORIGIN’s debut title back on a current Windows store. A Japanese tourist is kidnapped in the United States, stripped of his memories, and trained as the assassin Zwei under Ein, the girl who already holds Inferno’s Phantom title. Around them: a syndicate that murders its way into the next generation of crime, a whirlwind of bullets, and a boy-and-girl story that never pretends the work is clean. This page is the spoiler-light encyclopedia: what the words Inferno and Phantom mean, who stands in the doorway of Chapter 1, how a 2000 PC original became a 2026 Steam archive, and which wiki hubs to open after the title screen.
The Steam release date is 3 September 2026 worldwide. Japanese announcements used 4 September. Developer is NITRO PLUS / NITRO ORIGIN. Publisher is NITRO PLUS. Scenario is Urobuchi Gen’s debut, with Yasukawa Shogo and Morimiya Takashi. Original character art is Yanoguchi-kun; the remake’s on-model sheets come from the 2009 television staff. Recommended age is 15+. It is single-player only.
Inferno, Phantom, and the story you can know up front
Inferno is a crime syndicate, not a demon realm. Official copy describes it as young mafia executives who crossed race and nationality to share interests and police the underworld. Their method is blunt: under the slogan of reforming ossified families, they erase the bosses who block their rise. Phantom is not a person’s birth name. It is the title of Inferno’s top assassin, a sniper so thoroughly rumored that people who see the face still think they met an urban legend.
The face behind that title, when the script lets you look, is Ein. She was built by Scythe Master’s conditioning: no memory of her own name or age, expert in assassination and intelligence, fluent in more languages than the boy she is ordered to train. That boy is Reiji Azuma, a tourist who witnessed Phantom at work, ran on instinct, and got pulled into the machine for it. Inferno wipes him and issues the name Zwei. Claudia McCunnen, a young executive already sitting too high for her age, notices the new piece and starts her own approach. From there the game is three chapters and more than ten endings about whether two child assassins remain tools, partners, or corpses.
You can play Chapter 1 without a chart. You should not play it without saves. Flags decide who still speaks to you later. The Getting Started page covers passwords between chapters, language setup, and the 15+ warning. How to Play covers ADV reading, skip, and the missing recollection mode. When you want to steer, use the walkthrough and the endings guide.
Roster teaser
The Steam sheet lists the 2009 television cast. Zwei (Reiji Azuma) is voiced by Irino Miyu. Ein / Phantom is Takagaki Ayahi. Claudia McCunnen is Hisakawa Aya. Cal Devens, a runaway Zwei meets after he is already a working assassin, is Sawashiro Miyuki. Mio Fujieda, a classmate from a Japanese mission school in a later chapter, is Koshimizu Ami. Scythe Master, Ein’s maker and Zwei’s recruiter, is Chiba Isshin. Lizzie Garland, Claudia’s gunman and friend, is Watanabe Akeno. Raymond McGuire, Inferno’s top executive, is Chiba Susumu. Isaac Wisemel, a founding member who runs Los Angeles streets, is Ishikawa Hideo. Drei is Inferno’s other ace, pointed at Ein and Zwei; the official site still teases the role.
Those blurbs are doorways, not biographies. Full pages, including how each person attaches to a route, live under characters. Suggested loop order lives on the routes ranking. Do not read ending names if you have not finished a first clear. Do read the names above so the first training scene is not a wall of untranslated callsigns.
History: 2000 to 2026
2000: Nitroplus (now NITRO ORIGIN) ships Phantom -PHANTOM OF INFERNO- on PC as its first title. It is an 18+ hardboiled ADV with Yanoguchi-kun’s original designs and no voice acting. 2001–2003: DVD-PG and PlayStation 2 versions follow, adding voices and cutting adult scenes for console rating. 2004: an INTEGRATION PC remake folds extra features back onto Windows. 2009: television anime Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom broadcasts with new designs and extra original episodes. 2012: Xbox 360 remake rebuilds the game around that anime look, that voice cast, and extra anime-origin scenes. 2013: a Windows reverse-port of the Xbox 360 remake. 2026: Steam, branded NITRO ARCHIVE, ships that 2013 content with Japanese, English, and Simplified Chinese text.
NITRO ARCHIVE is therefore not a new script and not the 2000 adult game. Official notes repeat the same sentence: same content as the 2013 PC version that already included TV elements; voices Japanese only. Xbox 360 play movies and opening films are the same remake lineage. If a screenshot looks like the anime, that is intentional. If a veteran asks where the 18+ scenes went, they went with the 2000 SKU.
