Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO NITRO ARCHIVE Endings Catalog
Chapter 1 through Chapter 3 endings for the Steam remake, labeled so you can skip the paragraphs you do not want yet.
Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO NITRO ARCHIVE is a single-player visual novel with more than ten story endings across three chapters. This catalog follows the official PS2 guidebook names used by Wikipedia and English FAQs, then notes remake extras that the 2012 Xbox 360 version and this 2013 PC port still track. Voices are Japanese only. Content matches the 2013 Windows port, not the 2000 adult original.
Choice-by-choice flags live on the chapter walkthrough. If you only want a ranking of first play versus noir, use the Routes Hub. Character context is on Ein, Zwei, Claudia, Cal, and Mio. Gallery and ending trophies are listed under achievements.
Spoiler policy. Unlock conditions are mild. Plot synopses sit under spoiler labels. Stop at the condition line if you have not seen that ending.
How many endings, and which build
The guidebook list is ten named endings: one in Chapter 1, six in Chapter 2, three in Chapter 3. From Atop the Hill has two Cal variants. Phantom Integration added a Chapter 3 fail if you hesitate against Cal; the Xbox 360 remake tracks a related moonlit-sky / looking-up-at-the-moon variant, and Steam inherits that 2013 PC data.
DVD-PG copies printed password fragments after certain credits (full extra string UDG42VDA). Steam uses save slots and a system save. Do not paste a generic Chapter 3 skip code and expect Ein or Cal flags to follow you.
Recommended order
First-time (story). Do not farm every bad end first. Follow Ein’s Chapter 1, Cal’s Chapter 2, sniper ID, harbor ID, Hide, then Chapter 3. Pick Elen if you want the ending closest to the 2009 TV spine (the anime then diverges). Reload for Mio and Cal after you have one Japan file.
First-time (short). If you only want one sitting, Ein Chapter 1 plus incomplete Cal plus sniper and harbor is Southbound: Ein’s happier Chapter 2 close, no Japan.
Completionist (efficient). One Ein-plus-Cal backbone with the walkthrough save slots covers The Endless Nightmare, Vengeful Spirits, Southbound, Cherry Blossom Avenue, Road of the Cerulean Sky, and Dusty Desert Trails. Keep a failed-Ein slot for Fugitives. New Game for Claudia: The End of a Long Dream, The Woman in the High Castle, From Atop the Hill, then the Cal variant of the hill if you still need it.
Play Claudia after you have seen Ein and Cal if you care about tone contrast. Playing Claudia first is valid, but you will miss Chapter 3 until a second file.
Chapter 1
The Endless Nightmare
Unlock. After the bodyguard job, escape alone; or follow Ein, save her, then let her go.
Spoiler. Zwei (Reiji) fails to commit, returns to Japan, and tries to live with his family. He thinks he sees Ein in a crowd, possibly sent to kill him. He cannot tell vision from memory, and the assassin life feels more real than home.
This is the only Chapter 1 ending. Miss it and the game continues into Chapter 2 about a year later.
Chapter 2
The End of a Long Dream
Unlock. Claudia’s path in Chapters 1 and 2, do not meet Cal (or drop her immediately), then wait and see when Lizzie draws.
Spoiler. Reiji goes to the desert warehouse and waits. Ein finds him and kills him, mourning the scar he left in her.
Southbound
Unlock. Ein Chapter 1 complete, Cal Chapter 2 not fully complete, identify the sniper, identify the harbor attackers.
Spoiler. Same warehouse, different talk. Ein asks Reiji to kill her because Scythe is done with her. Neither can do it. They head south to start over (they had fled north in Chapter 1). This is Ein’s happier Chapter 2 ending. Because Cal was never fully attached, Japan and Drei never happen.
Fugitives
Unlock. Full Cal Chapter 2, and not a finished Ein Chapter 1 or Claudia Chapter 2. After the loft bombing, Hide.
Spoiler. Cal comes back from shopping. Reiji vows to run with her. Bittersweet on purpose: they are alive, and Inferno is not finished with them.
Vengeful Spirits
Unlock. Full Cal Chapter 2. After the loft bombing, Kill everyone.
Spoiler. Reiji believes Inferno killed Cal. He storms headquarters, kills his way to McGuire, and dies of wounds. Cal was not in the loft. She waits three mornings, then calls him a liar.
Hide on a complete Ein-plus-Cal flag set is not this ending. Hide on that set is the Chapter 3 door.
From Atop the Hill
Unlock. Finish Claudia in Chapters 1 and 2, shoot Lizzie, then shoot Claudia at the hangar. Two variants: never met Cal, or romanced Cal as far as Claudia’s route allows.
Spoiler. Reiji kills Claudia, returns the disk, and keeps the vow to survive. Five years later Inferno has the American underworld in one room. Reiji turns Scythe’s Zahlen Schwestern (built on Ein’s data) against the bosses, shoots Scythe, and takes the table. If Cal was fully in play, Lizzie reports that Cal killed McGuire in Colombia and Reiji names her Phantom. Lizzie walks. Reiji visits Claudia’s grave on a hill above the city.
The Woman in the High Castle
Unlock. Same Claudia hangar, accept fate and let her shoot you. One version, with or without Cal.
Spoiler. Reiji dies in Claudia’s arms and tells her to take back what Inferno stole. A year later she is attached to a new Gambino number two and still keeps the .38 casing. At a high window she swears she will get stronger or lose to the woman who shot him.
DVD copies printed the first extra-password fragment after this ending or the hill. Steam tracks the ending on the system save instead.
Chapter 3
Door. Ein Chapter 1 complete, Cal Chapter 2 complete, identify the sniper, identify the harbor attackers, Hide after the loft. Miss any piece and Japan never opens. The walkthrough lists the buttons.
Final split: complete Mio’s Chapter 3 path for Cherry Blossom Avenue, or leave it and choose Elen versus Cal.
Road of the Cerulean Sky
Ein’s true ending. Unlock. Do not fully complete Mio. After the last goodbye, look for Elen.
Spoiler. Reiji finds Elen in the church. They marry there. He makes her promise to wait while he duels Cal. Cal sets the pocket watch Reiji bought her; when the music dies he is faster. Cal forgives him as she dies. Godoh’s men hit the church; Elen returns and they escape. Scythe arrives with the Zahlen Schwestern; Elen kills Scythe and the numbered sisters fall. Mio, pulled from the ruins, treats it like a dream. Elen and Reiji trace her past through a Hong Kong brothel to Ulaanbaatar, then to grassland under a wide sky. In the 2012 remake and this port, Lizzie survives her earlier duel and kills McGuire so Inferno cannot chase them. Elen stops looking for a name. Being there with Reiji is enough.
Spoiler (fail variant). If you fully romanced Cal in Chapter 2 and hesitate in this duel, Integration’s extra bad end fires: Cal wins, Scythe arrives, and the moonlit-sky / looking-up-at-the-moon close replaces Cerulean Sky. Do not freeze on Cal if you want Ein’s true end.
Cherry Blossom Avenue
Mio’s only ending. Unlock. Stay or search for Mio, accept her confession, tell her about Cal, and take the Mio-specific prompt (what would you do if something happened to Mio).
Spoiler. Elen and Cal still duel. Reiji cannot talk them down. Godoh assaults the church. Mio offers herself as a hostage so Reiji can leave. Shiga dies getting her out. Cal kills Scythe for calling Drei a failed experiment, then spares Reiji because she owes Mio, with a promise to kill him and Ein later. Reiji spends a night with Mio and leaves because they are not the same world. He threatens Godoh’s head into dropping the life that would swallow her. From a cemetery he and Elen watch Mio visit Shiga’s grave. Petals fall. Mio looks forward anyway.
This is the only Chapter 3 close where Ein and Cal both walk away alive. Ein stays as Reiji’s ally around Mio. Cal does not forgive him; she stops hunting for now.
Dusty Desert Trails
Cal’s true ending. Unlock. Leave Mio’s path incomplete. After the last goodbye, look for Drei / Cal.
Spoiler. Reiji pulls Mio out and will not explain. He baits Cal into a church duel he means to lose. Elen interrupts; Reiji takes a knife for Cal. Elen tells Cal that was the point. Elen holds Godoh while Cal drags Reiji out. At the school the numbered sisters attack; Scythe uses Reiji as a shield; Elen, already dying, shoots Scythe and dies in Cal’s arms. Later, Reiji and Cal work as freelance Phantoms toward a desert town, planning a holiday after the job, together.
What this catalog is not
It is not a combat tier list. Firearm menus in the 2013 remake are encyclopedia picks. It is not the 2009 TV ending: the anime follows a modified Ein spine and then kills Reiji in Mongolia, which the game’s Cerulean Sky does not do.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for new Steam players and returning fans.
How many endings does the Steam version have?
The guidebook list is ten named endings across three chapters, plus From Atop the Hill's Cal variant and a Chapter 3 hesitate fail inherited from Integration into the 2013 PC remake. Tick them on this page and on achievements.
What is the true ending?
There is no single canon close. Ein's true end is Road of the Cerulean Sky, Cal's is Dusty Desert Trails, Mio's is Cherry Blossom Avenue. Claudia's noir pair is the hill versus the high castle. Rankings are on the Routes Hub.
What should I unlock first?
Ein Chapter 1, Cal Chapter 2, Hide, then Chapter 3. Farm The Endless Nightmare and Vengeful Spirits from the same backbone using the walkthrough save slots. Claudia is a New Game file.
Does hesitating against Cal change Chapter 3?
Yes, if you fully romanced her in Chapter 2 and then chase Elen. Integration's extra bad end, and the remake's moonlit-sky variant, replace Cerulean Sky. Shoot on time if you want Ein's true end.
Do I need every ending for achievements?
The 360 remake and this port track ending-complete and CG-complete trophies. Use achievements with this catalog. Weapon text is a separate grind.
Is the anime ending in the game?
No. The TV series uses a modified Ein route and then an original Mongolia close. Cerulean Sky on Steam ends with Elen and Reiji alive under the grassland sky.
