Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO NITRO ARCHIVE Updates Hub
From Nitroplus's 2000 debut to the Steam NITRO ARCHIVE build, with launch notes in one place.
This hub tracks how Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO reached Steam, not a live-service patch clock. NITRO ARCHIVE is a published single-player visual novel. The interesting version story is the 26-year line from the 2000 Windows debut to the 2013 reverse-port that Steam now ships. Day-one store facts, price, languages, and the Tokyo Game Show booth sit on the Steam launch article. Story onboarding stays on the getting started guide.

Version lineage
Read this as a product family, not as DLC chapters.
- 2000 PC. Nitroplus (now NITRO ORIGIN) shipped Phantom -PHANTOM OF INFERNO- on 25 February 2000 as its first title and as Urobuchi Gen’s debut. That Windows release was an 18+ visual novel with the original Yanoguchi Kimi look.
- DVD-PG (2001). Digiturbo produced a DVD-player version with professional Japanese voices and tightened art. Hirameki later brought a DVD-PG cut to North America in 2002.
- PlayStation 2 (2003). Princess Soft published a console port on 22 May 2003. It kept the voiced adventure structure for a general console audience.
- INTEGRATION (2004). Phantom INTEGRATION rebuilt the PC line (first press 17 September 2004, regular edition 19 November 2004) with extra artwork and the studio’s then-current engine. A Nitro The Best reprint followed in 2009. INTEGRATION is still the 18+ PC branch, not the Steam branch.
- Xbox 360 remake (2012). On 25 October 2012, Digiturbo and Microsoft shipped a CERO D remake that adopted the 2009 television designs and the Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom voice cast, and folded in anime-origin scenes.
- 2013 Windows reverse-port. On 30 August 2013, Nitroplus released a complete Windows port of that 360 remake (15+). Specs at the time were Windows XP through 8, DirectX 9, and a 1280x720 game screen. Recollection mode was already absent. CG mode and Sound mode were already present.
- 2026 Steam NITRO ARCHIVE. Steam’s worldwide store date is 3 September 2026. Nitro Origin’s Japanese news and the official site used 4 September 2026. Content matches the 2013 Windows reverse-port. Voices stay Japanese only. Text languages are Japanese, English, and Simplified Chinese.
The trailer embedded on this page is historical: the original 2000 Japanese promotion movie. It is not the 2026 Steam store trailer. Use it to hear how the first PC release presented Inferno, then remember that Steam’s pictures follow the anime remake.
What “NITRO ARCHIVE” means
NITRO ARCHIVE is the Steam catalog name for this 15+ remake port. It is not a new scenario by Urobuchi, not an 18+ restoration of the 2000 adult scenes, and not a live-service wrapper. Developer credits list NITRO PLUS and NITRO ORIGIN. Publisher is NITRO PLUS. The engine family is the Yeti / Regista stack used by the 360-era build. Official extras: CG mode yes, Sound mode yes, recollection mode no. Steam adds 34 achievements, Family Sharing, and a third-party EULA. Hardware moved from DirectX 9 / XP to DirectX 11 / Windows 11; see system requirements.
If you are comparing store pages, ignore screenshots from the 2000 original or from INTEGRATION when judging the Steam build. The wiki overview states the same content rule. Character pages under characters use the 2009 television cast: Irino Miyu as Zwei, Takagaki Ayahi as Ein, and the rest of that remake roster.
Launch coverage on this wiki
The Steam launch article is the patch-zero page: worldwide versus Japanese calendar dates, $29.99 / ¥3,500 list price, the minus 30 percent intro offer through 17 September 2026, language matrix, what the download actually contains, and the playable Tokyo Game Show 2026 booth (17–21 September, Nitroplus Hall 9 C-55). Future Steam news posts, if Nitroplus publishes any, belong as sibling pages under this hub rather than as edits to the lineage section above.
Launch-week Steam user reviews are Positive (11 of 11 recommends, 0 negative as of this writing). Recurring notes: official English text, a stable install, no autosave, and a 1080p desktop target rather than a new 4K master. The Steam reviews page paraphrases that sample and the launch press. Recheck the live store count; eleven votes will move.
Until a numbered patch appears, most “what changed?” questions are version questions. Steam did not silently upgrade the 2013 script. It wrapped that script for Windows 11, added official English and Simplified Chinese text, and hooked achievements. Trophy logic is on the achievements page. Ending names are on the endings guide.
