Routes Hub

This hub ranks routes and endings in Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO NITRO ARCHIVE. The Steam build is a single-player visual novel (2013 Windows port of the Xbox 360 remake). There is no PvP, no unit rarity, and no team builder. Firearm menus only fill encyclopedia text. If you want buttons, use the chapter walkthrough. If you want named outcomes, use the endings catalog.

Criteria below: first play (does the route teach the world without locking Chapter 3), story payoff (does the close earn the three-chapter run), completion efficiency (how many endings per file), and romance versus noir (whether the file is a partnership or an Inferno succession play).

S means do this on purpose. A means strong once you have the spine. B means worth a reload, not a first file. C means short or hollow unless you are mopping achievements.

First play

RankRouteWhy
SEin Chapter 1 into Cal Chapter 2 into Chapter 3Only package that opens Japan and the three true character ends. You meet Ein, Cal, and Mio on one spine.
AEin Chapter 1 into SouthboundShorter Ein close if you will not sit a third chapter yet. Still teaches Inferno and the warehouse.
BClaudia Chapters 1-2 to the hangarBest noir, worst teacher. You never get Chapter 3 on this file.
CEndless Nightmare as a first stopUseful later as a five-minute reload. As a first play it dumps you out before the cast exists.

Play night one toward Ein if you want the full story. Claudia is a second campaign, not a starter. Zwei is the player character on every file; the route is whose gravity you accept.

Blind Chapter 1 is fine. The first night and the bodyguard job are the only choices you cannot cheaply undo without a slot. Save before both, as the walkthrough lists.

Story payoff

RankEndingWhy
SRoad of the Cerulean SkyEin’s true end. Church, duel, Scythe, then the grassland investigation. Closest to the TV spine, without the anime’s Mongolia kill.
SCherry Blossom AvenueMio’s only end, and the only Chapter 3 close where Ein and Cal both live. Godoh, Shiga, and a future that is not a couple ending for Reiji.
ADusty Desert TrailsCal’s true end. Elen dies earning it. Freelance Phantom life is the sharpest Cal thesis.
AFrom Atop the HillClaudia’s succession play. Zahlen Schwestern, the table, the grave. Most Inferno-like close in the set.
BThe Woman in the High CastleClaudia lives, Reiji does not. Strong character beat, less world fallout than the hill.
BSouthboundEin happy-ish without Japan. Complete as a Chapter 2 novella, incomplete as the full novel.
BFugitivesCal happy-ish without Ein’s Chapter 1. Feels like a door, not a house.
CVengeful SpiritsRaid fantasy with the joke that Cal was shopping. Fine once.
CThe End of a Long DreamWarehouse death with no Cal and no hill. Ein’s saddest short close.
CThe Endless NightmareNecessary for completion, empty as a thesis.

Spoiler (payoff, short). Cerulean Sky pays Ein’s amnesia. Cherry Blossom pays Mio and the Godoh subplot. Dusty Desert pays Drei. The hill pays Claudia as an executive, not as a date. Everything else is a branch that refuses the Japan third act.

If you watched Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom first, Cerulean Sky is the game’s answer, not the TV finale. The anime is a remix, not a walkthrough.

Completion efficiency

RankPlanEndings you can harvest
SOne Ein-plus-Cal backbone with church and loft savesEndless Nightmare, Vengeful Spirits, Southbound, Cerulean Sky, Cherry Blossom, Dusty Desert
AFailed-Ein slot plus full Cal plus HideFugitives, without repeating Chapter 2 combat scenes
ANew Game Claudia with hangar double-saveLong Dream, High Castle, Hill, plus Hill-with-Cal if you also kept her
BIntegration hesitate on the Elen duelMoonlit-sky fail. One extra close, not a reason to start over.
CFresh file per endingWastes skip. This remake remembers read text. Use it.

Cal is the tax. One ignored prompt treats her as never met, so the S plan dies if you auto-forward Chapter 2. Accept every Cal-related option until the loft. Details are on the walkthrough and her character page.

DVD skip codes do not help efficiency on Steam. A Chapter 3 password without flags is a broken Japan. Saves carry Ein complete, Cal complete, sniper ID, harbor ID, and Hide.

Romance versus noir

Romance here means a partnership close, not a dating sim. Noir means Inferno wins the argument.

RankRomance toneNoir tone
SCerulean Sky (Ein), Dusty Desert Trails (Cal)From Atop the Hill
ACherry Blossom Avenue (Mio as the reason to stay), Southbound, FugitivesThe Woman in the High Castle
BVengeful Spirits, End of a Long Dream
CEndless Nightmare as a non-romanceEndless Nightmare as a non-noir

Spoiler (tone). Cerulean Sky marries Elen and still makes you kill Cal. Dusty Desert makes Elen die for Cal. Cherry Blossom refuses the duel winner and leaves Reiji as Mio’s distant knife. The hill makes Reiji the man Claudia would have been. High Castle makes Claudia the survivor who cannot throw away a casing. Pick the argument you want, not a damage number.

If you want both flavors, do not mix them on one file past the loft. Ein-plus-Cal-plus-Hide is the romance spine. Claudia hangar is the noir spine. Cross-contamination (Cal romance plus shoot Claudia) is a hill variant, not a true mix.

Character pages

Read these before you lock a finale:

  • Ein / Elen — Chapter 1 mentor, Chapter 3 true end, Southbound.
  • Zwei / Reiji — every file. The route is who he refuses to abandon.
  • Claudia McCunnen — F40 Chapter 1, hangar Chapter 2, hill versus castle.
  • Cal Devens / Drei — strict Chapter 2, Fugitives, Vengeful Spirits, Dusty Desert.
  • Mio Fujieda — Chapter 3 only, Cherry Blossom Avenue.

How to use this hub

  1. First file: Ein flags, Cal flags, Hide, Chapter 3, Look for Elen if you want the S payoff row.
  2. Reload church saves for Mio and Cal.
  3. Reload loft for Vengeful Spirits. Reload bodyguard for Endless Nightmare. Reload Cal confession for Southbound.
  4. New Game Claudia for noir. Use the Claudia page and the walkthrough hangar split if you need the timing without burning a file.
  5. Tick names on the endings catalog and achievements.

Japanese voices stay on for every route. Text language does not change flags. There is no two-player ending and no live-service season pass. When you are done ranking, go play the file; the walkthrough is the button list this hub refuses to duplicate.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for new Steam players and returning fans.

Is this a combat or unit tier list?

No. Phantom NITRO ARCHIVE is a single-player visual novel. Ranks are for routes and endings: first play, story payoff, completion efficiency, and romance versus noir.

What should I play first?

Ein's Chapter 1 into Cal's Chapter 2 into Chapter 3. That is the only S-tier first file because it opens Japan. Claudia is a second campaign.

What is the fastest way to see every ending?

One Ein-plus-Cal backbone with the walkthrough save slots, then a New Game Claudia hangar split. Do not start a fresh file per ending.

Should I pick the romance ranks or the noir ranks?

Romance S is Cerulean Sky or Dusty Desert Trails. Noir S is From Atop the Hill. Cherry Blossom Avenue is the compromise that keeps Ein and Cal alive.

Does the 2009 anime pick a tier?

It remixes Ein's spine and then uses an original close. On Steam, Ein's true game ending is still Road of the Cerulean Sky. Details are on the endings catalog.

Where are the character write-ups?

See Ein, Zwei, Claudia, Cal, and Mio. This hub only ranks the files those pages describe.
